Are you a professional filmmaker or media artist?
Would you enjoy working with young people in schools?
Are you keen to develop your professional skills?

We are offering 8 bursaries of £1000 to filmmakers and media artists in the North East to take part in our Mentoring Scheme. Each successful applicant will work alongside an experienced Mentor to plan, deliver and evaluate a filmmaking or media project in school. You will be given the opportunity to develop your own project, lead workshop sessions, as well as gain an insight into the way the sector works. The project will take place from December to March 2009 in Northumberland. You will be expected to commit a minimum of 10 days to the programme.

“It was great to work on a project where the emphasis was on the creative process and the use of imagination. I felt it freed me up as an artist to learn from mistakes and to take more risks in the approach to teaching film making.”
(Quote from filmmaker and former successful bursary recipient.)

The scheme is open to individuals working with a variety of media - including video, film, animation, sound, web-based work, gaming technologies, radio. You do not need to have experience of working in schools but you do need to have an established film or arts practise and an interest in working with young people in school settings.  Students are not eligible.

To apply for a bursary please send egs of your recent work, a C.V. and an outline of why this is an important opportunity for you (no more than 2 sides of A4).  Send to ISIS Arts, 5 Charlotte Square, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4XF

Deadline for application is Wednesday 26th November 2008
Interviews will be in Newcastle on Thursday 4th December 2008
