THE MAN FROM ATLANTIS
This program changed the way I swam and anyone else at my age who could swim, cos you had to be THE MAN FROM ATLANTIS and do that pelvic thrust swimming action, even if you were drowning.
I cut up bits of plastic and used my mams eyelash glue to stick them between my fingers and then used all her makeup to make the webbing look real, disintegrated in the water, but fun trying.
I recorded all the episodes on audio cassette as there were no affordable home video recorders at the time. All of my friends and two girls at school, who I never knew the names of, collected the photographs out of the “TV Times” for me so that I could use them as audio covers for my tapes, got about 20, still have them and the tapes, might give them a listen too over the weekend, well a couple as there are to many, but I will have a listen.
Any hoo if you know nothing about THE MAN FROM ATLANTIS here's a little bit of info.
After being washed up on the shore a young man is discovered by Dr Elizabeth Merrill of The Foundation for Oceanic Research to be the last known survivor from the city of Atlantis, learning that the man, Mark Harris, has webbed hands and feet and gills instead of lungs, Merrill brings him back to full health and persuades him to help her tackle an evil scientist called Mr Schubert and deal with a whole host of other under water problems.
They are absolutely fantastic, I would have liked to have seen those years ago when I was a big fan of the show ... they are still worthy of adding to one's collection hint hint
Any hoo hint's out of the way... those clips reminded me of a dream I had years and years ago ... it was when I lived with my parents... I remember coming out of my front door and Patrick Duffy was standing outside on the front grass beside the trees, we talked for ages about the show and asking, did he think it would get another season ... that dream was as real as anyone else I've talked to, I remember it like it was yesterday...we said our farewells and I woke up and the show never did get another season, but I knew that already. _________________ http://www.withintheshadowofthetree.com/
