TINTIN ACTOR SELECTED & More

Spielberg as director and Jackson as producer.
Jackson and Spielberg Find Their Tintin!! Directors Peter Jackson and Stephen Spielberg have selected young British actor Thomas Sangster to play the role of Tintin in their adaptation of the Belgian cartoon.



Thomas Sangster, 17, was chosen by Spielberg to play the young traveler and reporter in a planned trilogy, involving director Peter Jackson. Andy Serkis, best known for playing Gollum and King Kong, will play Tintin's friend Captain Haddock. Sangster has previously appeared in Nanny McPhee with Emma Thompson and Love Actually with Liam Neeson. The first Tintin movie is scheduled to be released in 2010.

Up next "Dambusters" the film about the famous World War II bombing raid, again with Jackson producing. A spokesperson for Peter Jackson told a New Zealand newspaper that filming was likely to start early next year. Although no cast has been announced yet, James McAvoy has been rumored to be under consideration for a role.
