The current glut of children's fantasy brought by such cinematic phenomena as Harry Potter and Narnia was always going to produce less than inspiring works, and this film falls into that category.  However, it is still somewhat watchable, thanks to a good cast and some good concepts.  It simply isn;t put together correctly.

Cast-wise, there's a number of well-filled supporting Roles, such as Sir Ian McKellan as a large polar bear, and Nicole Kidman as the token evil woman.  But the cameos are also good, notably that of Christopher Lee.

Kids might like it, but I don't think adults will be too bothered.
