I would just like to say what a fantastic evening I had yesterday.
Several of the forum members are part of The Washington Theatre group, based in the UK and they performed "Blue Remembered Hills" by Dennis Potter.
There was two performances, Friday and Saturday, I went on Saturday .
I had seen the TV version several years ago and knew how moving and funny the story had the potential to be. I also knew that the actors had an owesome task ahead of them, more so because there is just so much dialogue and emotion switching within the story, they had a lot of acting ahead of them, believe me.
From the onset I was transfixed, as John (odbbodd) flew onto stage pretending to be an aeroplane, he lay on the forest floor and looked up into the sky eating his apple, the stage was set and all the characters that followed added their own stamp on the characters they had taken on. The humour was fantastic, it drew you into a false security just before it effected you emotionally and psychologically. I have to say it was disturbing when the children thought an escaped prisoner of war was coming to get them, their screeming cut into you. It was also a very emotional end to the play when the barn was on fire, everyone's performance built to a crescendo ...very powerful and thought provoking.
Must also add this as Nige did the lighting effects, I thought he did an amazing job considering this was his first play and he had such a short time getting to know the equipment.
My only criticism ... there should have been more than two performances, because of all the hard work and effort that had gone into it, it did deserve it.
Glad you liked it, Carl. I too wish that there had been more performances, as we were all really getting into the swing of things. Even after the show doing all the clearing up, I was still rolling onto the stage when I need to get onto it. I'm going to miss not being able to do that anymore.
I've had a fab time over the last three months, rehearsing and preparing for the play, and I'd urge anyone to at least have a go at theatre if they can find a local group. It's nerve-racking before you get out there, but once you are, it's tremendous fun.

Thanks Carl, I hope the rest of the audience enjoyed it as much as you did.
Even though I didn't have an acting part in the production I still thoroughly enjoyed myself. In some ways I've been better off not getting a part as I got to try a little bit of everything. Reading in for people who couldn't make the odd rehearsal, helping with props and marketing. As well as seeing how all the lighting and sound it put together.

Why thank you, Liz. In fact, I think it's unfair for everyone else on the forum to miss out, so...

I would like to see a hair leg, two hair legs would be even better.
