Guiding Lights Mentoring Scheme.

Below are three fantastic opportunities for young people, Guiding Lights Mentoring Scheme, Cinemagic Talent Lab for 18- 25 year olds and TVYP at Byker Grove for under 18s.

GUIDING LIGHTS

Would you benefit from individual support from an established film industry pro? Have you got the talent and the passion but need the contacts to get a solid foothold in the industry? Do you need a helping hand to make the next crucial step in your career? If so, GUIDING LIGHTS is for you.

Guiding Lights are looking for 25 film industry professionals in the early stages of their careers. Successful applicants will be matched with high profile practitioners who will provide mentor advice and support throughout the programme and beyond.

We are seeking applications from up-and-coming talent from all sections of the community. If you are a director, producer, writer or work within the disciplines of business affairs, talent agents, sales agents, distributors, exhibitors, marketing or publicity and have at least two years' experience in your field, you are eligible to apply.

The deadline for applications is 1pm Tuesday 1st November.

Cinemagic Talent Lab, Belfast

Are you aged 18-25 and would like to learn more about a career in film or television? Want to be part of this exciting industry? If the answer is yes, then Cinemagic is for you.

The Talent Lab is taking place between the 1st-3rd December in Belfast, it will provide advice and hands on experience in various cinematic disciplines such as presenting, directing, production, acting and scriptwriting, these masterclasses will be hosted by respected professionals from the world of film and television.

All those involved in the Talent Lab will be invited along to the "Cinemagic Oscars", hosted by Cinemagic patron, Dermot O'Leary on the 3rd December 05. One outstanding participant from each masterclass will be awarded for their dedication and talent throughout the 2 days. These individuals will be offered the opportunity to work with credible producers and directors in the making of two short films that will then be screened as part of CinemagicMusic in 2006, the largest music event ever to take place in Northern Ireland. Cinemagic is in its 16th year.

TVYP for 16- 18 years olds

Be part of Television and Young People (TVYP) at Byker Grove this November. The weekend takes place on 11-12 November and is for people aspiring to work in television to meet and learn from the team behind Byker Grove. If you are aged 16-18 with a passion for television you are eligible to apply for a place. You don't need any previous experience but you must show that you are passionate about working in television. You will learn about scriptwriting, filming, directing and producing.
