Hedwig and the Angry InchTo give some sort of comparison to this film in high-concept style, it's Priscilla Queen of the Desert meets Velvet Goldmine. A story of a transsexual musician in pseudo documentary style, it tells of Hedwig, once a boy living in East Germany, with a passion for american music, and a strong desire to cross the Berlin Wall and head for the freedom offered by America. This he can only do by marrying a US border guard he's met, and for that he'll need a sex change. The operation is botched, leaving him with an inch of something down there. As he tries to make his way to stardom with his band, The Angry Inch, he finds that much is against him.
John Cameron Mitchel plays the titular hero, as well as having a hand in writing and directing what is a beautiful movie with a cracking soundtrack.
