Not sure if I'd say it was my favourite horror movie but that last movie to really creep me out on a psychological level was Seven.
The ending where you know whats in the box but are hoping your wrong.. It was great!

I don't really like horrors, tend to watch them through my fingers.
But the one that did freak me out was The Fog.
I know I'm just a sad girl !

The Fog.I remember watching the Fog from behind a cusion, it's a very scary movie especially if you watch it alone on a dark night, your imagination can play tricks.
Still think of that movie when its a foggy night.

Clatu Verata NictuHi, like the posters here I like the Fog, but really the only horror for me is Medievel Dead 3 - Army Of Darkness, but I suppose its the humour not the horror that attracts me.

Do you know what movie they nicked that saying from ?... The Day The Earth Stood Still, if you remember they would say "Gort, Klatu Verata Nictu" and then tell him what to do.
Army Of Darkness, The Day The Earth Stood Still and the Fog, all good movies.

How did I miss this topic?
First one that springs to mind is Dracula: Prince of Darkness. It was Christopher Lee's second film as the Count, and starred a number of other Hammer regulars. I actually think this is a better film than Hammer's version of Bram Stoker's novel, as the story is perhaps more suited to a film.
Another one is James Whale's iconic and heavily influential Frankenstein, made by Universal in 1931. This was the film that gave Frankenstein's Monster the look that we're all familiar with today: Flat headed, bad suit, badly stitched, bolts in the neck. It also popularised the idea of the monster being created by electricity - a concept not mentioned by Mary Shelley. The follow-up, Bride of Frankenstein, is one of those rare sequels that stands up to its predecessor.
However, my modern day favourite must be Sleepy Hollow. Not only is it a creation of the Holy Trinity of Depp, Burton and Elfman, it also has a wonderful supporting cast - Michael Gough, Ian McDiarmid, Geoffrey Jones, Casper Van Dien, Christina Ricci, Richard Griffiths, Michael Gambon, Ray Park, Christopher Walken, Martin Landau, Miranda Richardson, Lisa Marie and Christopher Lee. To top it all off, there are loads of nods to Hammer and Universal films. Although the story has been criticised for taking very little from Washington Irving's story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, it still stands out to me as a brilliant film.
Oh, and welcome to the forum, ratbag

Got say I don't Have a Favourate horror films. I have horror films that I am not too keen on, but love nearly all horror's in Genral.
recomendations for those who have not seen it - Rob Zombies Halloween!!! Excentlent film, changed slightly, but much more of a story line.
Try to avoid two films that are out on d.v.d 1st one Hard Candy - Watched it last night. Sound pretty good on the cover but unfortunatly tunred out to be the biggest pile of cow dung I had ever come across. The only interesting part of the film was when the girl castrates a bloke. Apart from that very dull and very boring. 2nd on my hit list is a french film called THEM. Is based on a true story. Now you have to be carefull when watching this because you can think it's a cool paranormal film. It starts out very well and most of the way through the film you think to yourself 'Yeah it's pretty good` Then about twenty minutes to the end it just gets pants. I wont say what happens because some of you may want to watch it. Great start - dissapointing endding.
By the way - Can anyone tell me how you all got your little pictures to identify who you are? Cheers thanks.

Not to be confused with the 50s classic creature feature, Them, which centres around an army of huge ants terrorising America. Good film.

Hardy Candy was pretty rubbish.
Neil how can you like Rob Zombies version of Halloween. Utter rubbish! I hate these remakes. The remake of the Fog was only worth watching for Tom Welling. Halloween I loved the original as it had more suspense. The new one is like a hack n slash fest. You should be shot for liking it. I can understand what you mean about trying to give it a bit more story, but it doesnt work for me.

Neil/Chloe,
Let me settle this argument for you.
They're BOTH rubbish. (as though I've actually seen either )

Yes! I had my gripes about this film also Neil, I don't like to call any films cos of all the hard work, but this was my grip ... Link to what I thought about it .... we didn't have a review section when I wrote this that's why it's where it is.

Typical of Oddbodd to say that.
Have to agree with Chloe. Hard Candy sounded good and was done badly. You can tell it was done very low budget. Wouldn't waste my time. As for Halloween 2007, don't even get me started. Not a patch on the original! This is one of those films that should never have been remade. They Malcolm McDowell as Loomis is dreadful. Just like a typical hack 'n' slash movie. The swearing is typical Rob Zombie. If I ever meet him, I'll personally shoot him!

Hi everyone.m I hadn't realised my thoughts on the new Halloween would have caused such a stir.
Can I first of all say that I am a huge fan of the original Halloween with scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis. So much so that I have four different copies of the film. Two releases on D.V.D, one original on vhs and one edited for teenie boppers t.v version also on vhs. So please don't think that I have made out the new Halloween to be better than it's predessor. If this is the impression I have given please accept my apologise.
I like the new halloween for a couple of different reasons. First of all it was nice to have a different take on why michael is the way he is. When watching the orignal I always wanted to know why he killed his sister? I felt there had to be something more to it, which is what the RZ version gives you. Iit explains more about the whole family sistuation. I have friends who have watched the original and asked the question 'Why did he do that?` Alot of my friends aren't film buffs like yourselves and I. They want to have it explained to them. Tthe logic behind RZ version was there. Every litlle bit slotted into place.
The other important thing to remember is that RZ was not trying to make a remake. If he had done then Dr Loomis would have been alive and it would have been spot on to the final detail. It has a totally different ending, which I think has been well done.
I also have a great apprieciation for this film for one paricular reason, and it's something that most remakes totally disregard. RZ has kept the original sound track. Yes of course he has put in a few heavy metal tracks here and their, bu the bulk of the music track has been kept exactly the same.
I have to agree with chloe on particular point. The swearing can be a bit over powering in this film, and yes that does trade mark an RZ film. I think he could have possibly toned it down abit, but that's what makes a rob zombie film. I think it's like marmite- you either hate it or you love it.
But as I said before I love the original version and always will.

You don't have to apologise for liking it. Everyone has different tastes but I never hold them on that. May wind them up a bit for fun but at the end of the day we're all different and have different tastes. For crying out loud, I loved The Phantom Menace where lots of people hated it. I'm not embarrased to admit it and people that hate it may not understand it. Don't ask me to explain. I loved the original and remake of Poseidon.
I agree with you on the positive points on the new Halloween. Yes, it gave you a bit more while Michael is the way he is. I didn't like the ending because... well it'll spoil it for those that haven't seen it.
However, from memory, it does explain about Michael's behaviour in Halloween 2 and the director's cut of the first one.
