Hot FuzzWhile the Hollywood idea of comedy sits detriorating into bad parody and cheap laughs, it's good to know that there is still originality in mainstream cinematic comedy. The folks who brought us Shaun of the Dead have conjured another work of art in this police comedy.
Simon Pegg is a London police officer, with a zero-tolerance approach to crime, an unwavering ethic to stick to the rulebook, and an arrest record that shames the rest of the force - to his detriment. It is this that forces his superiors to assign him to a Sergeant's job in a small West Country village. He's partnered up with Nick Frost, who could hardly be a more different policeman. However, more or less as soon as he arrives in the village, a spate of accidents begin to arouse his suspicion that something funny is going on.
Those who enjoyed Shaun of the Dead should not be disappointed with this offering. The wit is sharp as ever and it even retains the comedic gruesomeness of the first film. There are also some interesting cameos that I won't spoil for you.
