LA Without a MapThis film is a fairly standard love story, but I think it deserves mention because it has some surprises that make it worth watching. The story is simple. David Tennant, a Bradford undertaker, meets American wannabe actress Julie Delpy at a funeral, and later makes the decision to give her a surpise visit in LA. Things turn out okay for a while, but there are the predictable ups and downs.David Tennant is excellent in the role, as one would expect, but his thunder is somewhat stolen by the cameos from Johnny Depp. Johnny makes a few appearances, most notably as a moving image of himself on a poster of his film Dead Man. In these situations he says nothing, but his expressions are great. Worth a watch if you can find it, but it's a bit of a rarity. |

He had to start somewhere. You'll find that most actors who burst onto the scene have done a fair bit of not-heard-of stuff before. Mind you, it's not often they co-star with Johnny Depp. |
