Millennium Falcon or USS Enterprise?

A friend of mine at work had been reading a Jeremy Paxman book, in which the be-denimed motorphile waxed lyrical about which was better - The Millennium Falcon, or the USS enterprise. In the end he came down on the side of the Falcon, because it kept breaking down and therefore had "more soul". I doubt that he'd go for a banged up '83 Datsun Pulsar over a Porsche for the same reason, but that's beside the point. And I'm not sure if he knows there were two (or more?) Enterprises, at least ones tha twe saw on Telly.

So - which one's better?

Millennium Falcon - Crewed by Han Solo and his hairy hetero life-mate Chewbacca, a Jay and Silent Bob for the Galaxy Far Far Awar if there ever was one. It's got loads of stuff liek hyperdrives (I think), and can do the Kessel Run in under 12 parsecs. But then, considering that a parsec is a measure of distance (3.28 light years) rather than of time, it goes to follow that anyone can do that - even the average Sunderland bus. Plus, it has the advantage of Princess Leia, on occasions.

USS Enterprise(s) - Crewed by something more than a hairy, unintelligible, alien fleapit (and a Wookie), in that it has a whole host of officers analogical to that of the Navy. Captains Kirk and Picard, while being vastly different, keep order among hundreds of staff while negotiating tricky subspace pockets, Alien war vessels and why they never seem to bash directly into a planet. These ships have warp drives, tractor beams, and cloaking devices (I think), and the advantage of either Counsellor Troi or Lieutenant Uhura.

Enterprise gets my vote.

You should have put it up as a poll. Just want to correct you on something, Oddbodd, but you'll find the book is Jeremy Clarkson not Paxman, as my brother is reading it as well. It is what I mentioned the other day when we were going to Whitby.

Sorry but, as much as I love the Enterprise, the Falcon gets my vote any day.

Ah yes, I always get those two mixed up *Slaps head*.

Have to say there's one thing about The USS Enterprise that gets my vote and that's the holla-deck Twisted Evil you can do anything Twisted Evil and be anywhere you want.
So by choosing the Enterprise you can have the best of both worlds, by going into the holla-deck and piloting The Millennium Falcon and when you've become bored piloting The Millennium Falcon you could then fly any other ship like Serenity or anything else. Sooooo It has to be the USS Enterprise for me... it's the logical choice Smile

Based on past experience I wouldn't like to comment.. Neutral

Anyway back to the topic.. Yes the Enterprise has lots of fancy gadgets and facilites. Its got engines and shields which actually work most of the time. Its also probably a really nice place to live. However the one thing it hasn't got is character. If an enterprise gets destroyed they just build a new one and most people wouldn't notice the difference. If the falcon got destroyed it could never be replaced. Yeah you could get a new ship that looked like it but it wouldn't be the falcon.
Where the Enterprise is like a hotel or a cruise liner in space, the falcon is someone's home and that to me makes it much cooler and a lot more special.

Yep, Falcon is definitely cooler. You maybe able to create a holodeck replica but it aint the same.
