north east telly netShould have posted this sooner but bit busy .... better late than never.
For the Telly Net’s next event, we'll be in conversation with one of the region's rapidly rising stars - cinematographer Lol Crawley - and getting an opportunity to view some of his work. This man has a very busy diary so we're extremely lucky to have him! The event starts 6.30pm, Monday 29th September, at ‘As You Like It’ in Jesmond.
Lol had his first feature film credit on the US produced Ballast, which won him an Excellence in Cinematography award at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. He also shot the UK produced feature Better Things which was invited to premier in critics week at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival.
Prior to this his first significant work as cinematographer was the highly acclaimed short film Field directed by Duane Hopkins for Third Films. This film won ten awards on the international film festival circuit including the Gold Hugo at Chicago and Best International Short Film at Hamburg. Following on from this success, Lol worked again with Third films on short film Love Me or Leave Me Alone which won a further nine awards including Best British Short Film at EIFF 2003.
His recent work has included Morag McKinnon's debut feature Rounding Up Donkeys for Sigma / Zentropa and the Russian feature Dau directed by Ilya Khrzhanovsky.
Space for the event, as usual, is limited. There's no charge for this event, but please RSVP to event@northeasttellynet.co.uk to get your name on the guest list.
