Quantum Of Solace

Story

Bond is back continuing exactly where he left off from Casino Royale.  He is seeking revenge for the loss of his loved one in the previous movie.  Along the way, he uncovers a plot for an environmentalist to take control of a water supply.

Well I have to say this lived up to what I was expecting and more, RUBBISH!!!

This is supposed to be a James Bond film yet none of the typical elements are there.  No gadgets, Q or Moneypenny even the humour is lacking.  The start says it all.  The typical intro where bond is walking along in the sight of a gun the turns and fires isn't until the end of the movie.  The beginning theme is poo!  Why o why did they do this?  The only good thing are some of the action sequences but they copied the style from the Bourne movies which, although I thoroughly enjoyed them, it should never have copied them.  However, even the action sequences didn't keep me on the edge of my seat.  James Bond has, also, suddenly got super strength.  The way he handles some of the bike sequences and then one scene where he breaks off a steel handle, come on.  The producers have tried to reinvent the franchise in a gritty more realistic style and for me that hasn't worked.  To top it off, Daniel Craig has to be one of the worst James Bonds.  Almost like come back George Lazenby, all is forgive, well almost.

My only hope is that come the next Bond movie they revert back to a style of that the previous Bond (Brosnan) as it was more entertaining.

Out of a possible 5 stars I give it 1 and that's being generous.

With respect to Philster's review, we have to remember that the powers that be in the Bond camp have decided to take a completely new direction with bond - a more gritty, realistic line.  Whilst I do prefer the old Bonds, I think many believe that they've been done to death.  In theory, I think there's nothing wrong with taking a different direction.

However, Phil, I will agree with your summing up.  Rubbish.  Little more than a standard action flick with all those things that are en vogue in action movies at the moment.  Shaky camerawork included.  Not much of a story.
