Christopher Lee was born to play Dracula. And Scaramanga. And Count Dooku. And Lord Summerisle. And the Burgomaster in Sleepy Hollow. And probably Saruman or whoever, but I haven't watched those films much. Anyway, he does make a great baddie, and although the man himself doesn't hold the highest regard for his Dracula films, it will always be synonymous with him. This film, the fourth he filmed for Hammer Studios in the guise of Bram Stoker's Count, is a good example of why he's so indelibly connected to the part.
We're treated to another glorious Eastman Colour fest of unnaturally red blood, buxom ladies and people who think they know best not believing in vampires. In this film, a group of three gentlemen, ostensibly leaders of their community but in reality affluent men with dark tastes, happen upon a young gentleman who convinces them to conduct a ceremony which will resurrect Count Dracula. The three gents, however, aren't keen on tasting the count's blood, and end up beating the young man to death. Dracula then rises, vowing revenge on the three gentlemen.
One by one, he goes after each victim, recruiting young women to help him, but unaware that someone is already armed with the knowledge to destroy him.
It's another superlative performance from Christopher Lee, ably assisted by Ralph Bates and Peter Sallis - who most of us remember as either the voice of Grommit's master Wallace, or one of the blokes from Last of the Summer Wine.

I could never look at a Wagon Wheel in the same way ever again after that movie, (Not the Biscuit one) I even bought the Hammer poster mag with it in.
Just as a matter of interest I've got these four. My favourite is the Dracular movie poster, might not be the real movie poster but better than nowt, I'll show you next time you're over.
Also have you seen or should I say heard the Dracula LP narrated by Christopher Lee, very scary if you listen to the beginning with the lights out. BWARRRRRRR !!!

I've finally got around to listening to this (with the lights off, etc, as it should be). Thanks for doing this, Carl, it's great fun. Christopher Lee's voice is perfect for it.

Are You Sitting Comfortably? Bhawwwwwwww it's the tapping that gets me thing is you also picked the perfect time as the weather is sh**t and dark.
That record was pre home video, so we didn't have horror and other movies on tap when I was bluming growing up, but it did the trick back then when Johnny Depp and I were youngins
Found this if anyone is interested, it's a whole feast of horror stories including the one oddbodd and I are on about. When the page loads you will hear loads of stories at once, you will need to pause the one's you don't want to hear...enjoy. PS. The Haunted Mansion doesn't work but there are plenty others.

Absolutely fantastic Carl thanks. The Hammer presents Dracular is so atmospheric and Vincent Price is priceless.
The Haunted Mansion appears to be working now, I've not had a chance to listen to it, but will later tonight I would like to record them, anyone got any suggestions on how this would be possible.
