Hi Fantasy Fan,
Welcome to the forum!
You should find everyone welcoming and friendly. Although I'd watch out for a character who goes by the nickname H, especially if you're female. He's harmless really, if you have a look at some of the other topics on the forum you'll soon get an idea of what he's like.
There are a few other characters who can be a little wicked at times too but its all just good harmless fun!
You'll find a few of the regulars are from the Northeast of England since thats where Carl (our lord and master) lives and when he set it up he rang all his mates up and forced them to start posting stuff, just to make the site look popular. I bet he tries to deny that.
So come one tell us a bit more about yourself.

Hi Fantasy Fan,
Welcome to the “Within The Shadow Of The Tree” forum.
The movie was completed a few months back but was partly funded by a media funding body, this means they have a say in where and how I can release it. I had an opportunity a few months back to have it premiered in New York but the festival wasn't recognised be the funding body. I have to go with their list, the only problem are the restraints on those festivals are causing problems like length, subject and format.
Any hoo, If I can't get any grace I intend to either get a distributor or release it myself on DVD and for download. What ever happens the info will be available on the official web page.
I will be updating the official web next week with Previsualization of a scene page two and also in a few weeks linking a makeup making movie showing tests of the Evil Fathers makeup.

Thanks for the info. I hope you get things sorted with this Carl, because I'm really looking forward to it.
Also thanks for the friendly welcome. I will try and come on here more oftern, but can only do it a couple of times a week through work comittments, etc. Sounds like I really need to be careful of this H character then. Sounds like he is a bit of a chatup artist from some of the boards Ive seen. I may tell you a little about me next time Im on, a bit shy realy. And you here some stories about things that go on in these places. Nice to know were sort of neighbours anyway.
I do like other things other than fantasy but its my favourite. Like a bit scifi to especially STTOS.

STTOS is without dobut the best of the stra trek serieses, if that's a word. It might not have had much in the way of special effects or storylines, but so what? it's sci-fi!
Welcome, Fantasy Fan. You're right to be wary of H. However, Sylvester and Piper seem to have him in control now, so it might not be so bad.
Cheers,
O.

Greeting and salutations Fantasy Fan,
I see the locals have already been telling you stories about me. The fact that you feel the need to be carefull of me leads me to conclude that you might indeed be female.
My I offer you a most sincere welcome to the forum, if there is anythng I can do to make your visits here more "interesting" you have but to ask.
With regard to STTOS, it is pretty much the classic definition of Sci-Fi cheese.

Hi Fantasy Fan,
You don't have to apologise for only being able to post a couple of times a week, the fact that you posted at all is fantastic, also I would never worry or feel nervous about posting cos you've got total anonymity. No one has a clue who your are, you can say what you like as long as you don't swear (there are ways around it though, if you feel you have to) We’re not bothered about spelling cos I'm one of the worst spellers in the world, just say what you want even if everyone disagrees... that's what forums are all about, having your say.
Any hoo I look forward to chatting with you in the future on the forum.

Hi Fantasy Fan
My greeting is what I expected to come from H. It was rather inviting. Sounds like he's got plans for you so watch out!
Hope you enjoy chatting with us. Some of us are nice people here. Others are just cheek. However, it's just a bit banter. There's never any offence by it so don't worry about it. Good that you've joined us.

What Are You Trying To Say

Philster, yet again you show how little you really know me.
To think I would introduce myself in such a crass an vulgar manor.
It also implies that I think of women as nothing more than a lumps of dead flesh to be used for my own pleasure. They are beautiful creatures who should be treated with charm and respect.
Me thinks you were actually writing your own thoughts but aren't brave enough to take credit for them.

I'd watch out for sweet-talk like this, FF. We've seen many times on this forum that he talks the talk but rarely walks the walk.
O.

Philster
|
Come on H, you should know better than to give me that little speech of verbal mush. We all know what you're like. As Oddbodd says, Talk The Talk and I hate that saying! You're just trying to sweet talk FF and lure her into your lair! The saying "How sweet, fresh meat" is not vulgar. It's a saying Freddie Kruger comes out with in ANOES4. Your sinister presence very much reminds me of FK!
|
hisomuhito
|
I find it surprising that you're using "Freddie Kruger"!! to back up your point about that phrase not being vulgar, he's not exactly noted for his charm. Correct me if I'm wrong ladies but I'm fairly sure if you walked up to a girl you'd just met and said that to her she wouldn't be overly impressed.
Have I denied trying to sweet talk FF or any of the other ladies on the forum? I think not...
I fully admit to being an outrageous flirt and have no problems being labelled as such. I just hope I manage to do it with at least a modicum of whit and charm which hopefully provides some entertainment along the way.
As to being sinister well if thats what your opinion of me there isn't much I can do about that. I just hope fear of finding me in your dreams doesn't give you sleepless nights..
Can I also point out the contradiction in your previous statement. If I just "talk the talk" why would I be trying to "lure anyone into my lair"? Surely that would prove counter productive.

So, Philster, you pick your chat-up lines from Wes Craven films. Most people go for James Bond, even Austin Powers or perhaps Mae West's famous gun-in-your-pocket-or-are-you-just-pleased-to-see-me job, But no. Philster has to choose the lovechild of Dennis the Menace and Edward Scissorhands as his amorous inspiration. I pity the fool.

Call me a dumb blonde especially for brunette but who is H? Am I right in thinking it's Hisomuhito?
What has this forum turned into? Just like some of the other forums Ive been looking on this site. Topic totally changes.
As for some of the comments here the greeting mentioned by Philster "How sweet fresh meat," most women may find offensive but I dont. Its different from all of the other chatup lines I get. I find it kinky!!! So whomever said or thought it youve got my attention. Hisomuhito your comments about us women are true, we are wonderful and beautiful beings but that stuff makes me sick hearing it from someone I dont really know. Sounds like youre trying to get into my panties. My ex used to say stuff like that and what a creep he turned out to be. He is slime.
Some of the things Ive noticed Jonny you are so young and innocent, I feel sorry for the things thats said to you. Some of them are a bit too much. As for the male arrogance there's a lot about especially from Oddbodd and Hisomuhito. Both should be shot. I feel theres more to our Mr Hisomuhito or H if I'm right. After some of the things said by Piper and Wolf, I sense someone that suffers from multiple personality disorder. Bet you dont have a girlfriend. If you do and you say some of the things said on here how does she put up with you? A bit of advice most decent girls dont like that sort of talk. Be yourself for a change you might even be a nice person at the bottom of you.
Until next time when I'm a bit more sober. I may even post on one of the other forums.

Hi FF,
Its ok, you don't have hand in your membership to the brunet club, you are correct I am indeed H. As labelled by Piper who you've probably noticed has a thing about initials and acronyms.
Well you're definitely not a lump of fresh meat, not with teeth and claws like that.. What have we awoken..
Let me see where to start..
Yes you're right, there is a lot more to me than you can tell from this forum and I'm not talking about multiple personalities. I have just one personality but depending on the situation and environment different facets of that personality come to the fore.
I think you'll find that is the same for most people. Their behaviour changes depending on whether they're with friends, at work, being interviewed for a job, trying to get the best deal in a shop, dealing with a customer.. the list goes on. Does that mean everyone suffers from MPD?
As for being a nice person or technically a "nice guy", been there, done that, have the t-shirt, baseball cap, and hoody, its not all its cracked up to be. This is what being a "nice guy" is like..
http://www.stwing.upenn.edu/~jenf/writing/rant04.html its amazingly accurate, Jonny take note.
You called Oddbod and I arrogant, well theres a fine line between confidence and arrogance and in my experience girls tend to go for the guys who've just stepped over it. That is a generalisation but I experience has proven it to be true more often than not.
You say decent girls wouldn't like the way I talk, well assuming you class yourself as a decent girl you've already proved it does work. Ok your ex might have turned out to be a creep but you obviously liked the way he went on when you met otherwise you'd never have gone out with him in the first place. Granted talk like that now puts you off, once bitten twice shy as they say.
At end of the day even the nice guys want to get into the panties, yes they may want the friendship, companionship, romance as well but when it comes down to it, its all a means to an end. I'm not saying thats what it is all about, but it is normally what its all leeding up to.
One last thing FF,
I think you need to lighten up a little. Ok it might have been the drink talking but I think you've missed the point slightly. I can't speak for anyone else but I'm just having a laugh and a bit of flirty fun.
I'm pretty sure Piper, Sylvester and even Jonny understand that. Ok some of the things I've said may sound harsh but there is never any malice intended, most of the time I'm doing it to provoke a reaction.. (hey it worked ! )
Even Jonny, as much as I take the p**s I do actually think he's ok, he's just a little naive which just makes him an easy target. I actually hope that the treatment he gets on the forum helps him deal with the crap he'll have to put up with in real life. Jonny, learn from it ok!
I've never intended to actually upset anyone and if I have tell me and I'll apologise. Like I said in my previous post I hope people find my shenanigans at least moderately entertaining.
Now back to the flirting..
So FF have I screwed up any chance I had? Has Philster Kruger stolen you away while I stumbled at the starting block?
|
Philster
|
Wow and Ouch!!!
Tell it like it is FF. Hope I didn't offend you. I apologise if I have. The "How sweet, fresh meat," thing, as much as I would like to admit it if you thought it was kinky, it was just a daft friendly warning/saying to make you aware of H and his antics. He's not a bad person really. He just likes to flirt with the women but his heart is in the right place.
There's nothing meant by what's said in the forum. Don't think anybody hates anyone. Just a bit banter like what has been stated before. I don't hate anyone and that includes Jonny. He's probably a canny person really. I like winding people up, as long as they can take a bit fun, and, also, like being wound up myself. Jonny is an easy target and that's why we all pick on him. Look at the comment about being a dog person, come on Jonny that's a bit too much info I think.
Sorry to hear about your marrage too. Some things are just not meant to be. Hope it wasn't a messy one like a few I know of. Sometimes it's good to talk about these things and get it off your chest. I sympathise with you on that one. Whether it was the drink talking or not, don't worry about it. I'm so glad I can't drink. Hate to think what I could be like if I could drink alchol.
Again, don't worry about it.
What is it comparing me with film characters? First, sam beckett from Quantum Leap now recently Richard Kimble and Freddy Kruger. That's charming. Rather be Michael Myers than Freddy anyway. He's cool!

True - but think about what would happen if this was a real life forum, a meet-up about films. Surely any conversation would, at some point, digress into some other subject? There's no reason why it shouldn't here. Anything else is effectively censorship.
| Fantasy Fan wrote: | | As for some of the comments here the greeting mentioned by Philster "How sweet fresh meat," most women may find offensive but I dont. Its different from all of the other chatup lines I get. I find it kinky!!! |

Some might say that decent girls wouldn't like Philster's sort of talk either - being seen as meat. Fair enough, H's response may have been in its context, ostensibly servile, however, how do you know he doesn't actually think that way? I presonally think that he's right. Women are, in some cases, beautiful, and wonderful (I think so about my girlfriend), and there's nothing wrong with saying that (which I do) if it's what you feel (which I do). I'm sure many would consider it better than being considered "meat".
| Fantasy Fan wrote: | | So whomever said or thought it youve got my attention. I know H personally. Slime he isn't. There's a good old phrase about judging a book by its cover - it's the same with people and their chat-up lines.
| Fantasy Fan wrote: | | Some of the things Ive noticed Jonny you are so young and innocent, I feel sorry for the things thats said to you. Some of them are a bit too much. If arrogance is a capital offence then we're all doomed. Especially if in one breath you're talking about a chat-up line from sombeody you just met making you sick, and in the next suggesting that someone you only just met being worthy of a dawn meeting with the Firing Squad purely for what YOU consider is arrogance. I'll admit I'm often arrogant. I'm not perfect. Nobody on this forum is. I'm not going to apologise for it. I actually comsider arragance, to a certain level, being a quality. Too much servility can engender a lack of respect from others and also turn you into a doormat. I personally spent too much time in my life being that. I also know that I've joined the "let's take the mick out of Jonny" bandwagon - but I certainly don't have anything against Jonny. And he's perfectly free to return the mick-taking whenever he likes - I could hardly complain.
| Fantasy Fan wrote: | | Until next time when I'm a bit more sober. I may even post on one of the other forums. |
Let me finish by saying that this forum has evolved as a small community of people who presumably consider each other friends to a certain degree. It doesn't engender enmity - I certainly don't have any hard feelings against you for venting your spleen, especially as you're professing to insobriety, and I know what that's like. If someone says something you don't like on here, then you have every right to protest. But I think that it should be remembered that the offence was probably not meant.
Cheers,
Oddbodd.

Hi All
Oh dear it seems that I have an apology to make. Sorry to everyone I offended on my last post. I was a bit tipsy after celebrating my divorce being final which was messy, but I wont go into that.
I dont think Hisomuhito is slime but am a bit suspicious of his antics reading Pipers and Sylvesters comments on other forums on this site. Yep, I can work anyone out very quickly especially in their writting. But then I am a woman and we girls can work you men out any day of the week, isnt that right Sylvester and Piper.
Hisomuhito your comments you never got off the starting block as far as I am concerned, but impress me. You never know we may hook up if your willing to travel 50 or so miles.
Philster also got my attention as strange as it may sound by quoting Freddy Kruger. I doubt he meant anything nasty by it, but I was a big Nightmare on Elm Street fan and love number 4, The Dream Master. The girl that kicks Freddy's but Alice kind of reminds me of her. Shy but wanting to kick but. She is one of my heroines with Xena, Andromeda and Sam Carter from Stargate SG-1.
If I had to give points so far Philster would be in the lead against you Hisomuhito so what you going to do to beat that. However that doesnt mean hes in the lead altogether. What about Jonny or Oddbodd? I know Oddbodd is spoken for but....
Oddbodd, you are a very confusing person. Although I understood what you said, that will have confused even a rocket scientist.

Boy FF a woman after my own heart!!!
I was madly and love with Alice (Lisa Wilcox) in Elm Street 4 and Sam Carter, drooooooollllll! Of course, I hope Amanda Tapping doesn't stumble across this or I'll have some explaining to do and to Teryl.
If you're Alice can I be Dan.
Oddbodd, you've no idea of my face right now. Yes, he is very weird indeed!!! But that's the way we like him.
By the way, to put this thing to rest once and for all, again the "How sweet, fresh meat" was supposed to be a joke and deterrent for FF to beware of H. I would never EVER think of anyone, especially women, as slabs of meat or anything like that. Anyone who thinks I think that, I'll personally pay you a visit and set fire to your trousers!!! Sorry if I've offended anyone, especially the females, Sylvester, Piper, Fantasy Fan and others I've missed.

Well FF, talk about multiple personalities, you sounded like a completely different person in your last post compared to the one before. I assume it was the alcohol talking previously.
I notice Philster is getting in on the action too, wanting you to be Alice so he can be Dan.. If it keeps going like this know one will know who anyone is!
You've definately managed to hit all of Philsters buttons there I see, looks like you've mentioned almost all of the ladies he erm.. "admires" from film and TV. Not sure on his opinion of Xena I though.
So you want me to impress you do you.. well I do know some mighty fine party tricks but I don't think thats the sort of thing a lady like you is looking for. Not sure I've worked out exactly what you are looking for yet but give me time..
As for travelling 50 miles, well for the right girl I'd travel to the other side of the world.. its not like I haven't done it before..
Till next time FF. Good luck Philster, try not to stumble or I might over take you

Let me be serious for a moment, and I mean a moment, I think Jonny is right about FF. I've seen too many divorces end badly and she has confided in me about hers and it's disgusting. Obviously I can't say anything else though. It's up to her what she tells and whom. She definitely needs people to talk to and let her know there's real people out there that are decent human beings and not slime. People that will always be there to help, etc.

Hi FF,
I never did judge H by his cover, if I had, would I have continued talking to him!!!!.
I can tell H is all bravado with nothing to back it up. Realistically from what I can see, his alter ego is probably the more approachable and easiest to communicate with, so who knows I may one day be able to finally talk to the real H and not his hormone induced alias.

It's a pity H never did.
I get someone to point to a newspaper for me and he bases a whole point of view from it by thinking it was me. I'm not that silly H, I tested you and it was a good indicator of just how shallow you are.
Sting or no sting I doubt you'll learn anything from it.

Ok, I think this has gone a bit too far now. I really didn't want this to go any further for the sake of Carl's forum but after whats been said above I think it only fair that I have a chance to respond.
I've always been of the opinion that you shouldn't air your dirty laundry in public, if I have a problem with someone thats between myself and that person and as far as I'm concerned. That in mind I'm just going to say enough to respond to some key points made above and beyond that I'll leave it to PMs.
Firstly, I think some people have been taking things a bit seriously.
In general I was having a bit of a laugh and doing some "harmless" flirting, which everyone seemed to be enjoying. Occasionally I would post somethings as H which were not necessarily my own beliefs but were still valid opinions which I put forward to provoke a reaction in the hope of generating some discussion.
All I'll say in response to Sylvester's comment is that it isn't exactly how I remember it. I never made any direct personal comments about you.
And Piper, I personally think the best way to find out what a person is really like is to get to know them directly not going through their friends.
You both talk about not judging a book by its cover, from my point of view the only person who has actually been open minded enough to do that is FF and I would like to thank her for her comments.
The internet is probablly the worst medium for determining a persons real personality. I've had first hand proof of this last weekend.
A bunch of people on another forum I go on had a meet up which I went along to. I'd say the vast majority of the people who turned up were nothing like I expected them to be. The one thing everyone did have in common was they were all great people and happy to take people as they found them.
And finally for those of you who haven't worked it out already (i.e. Jonny ) I've posted this as Nige instead of H so I could be sure it was taken seriously.
I have yet to decide whether H will return. We will just have to wait and see.

I want to say a few words in nige’s defence. I've know nige now for quite a few years and he's one of the nicest people you could be friends with, he will do anything for you and he is always up for a good laugh.
I remember the time when I heard him swear for the first time, I was in shock because nige is very nice 99% of the time and like anyone he is allowed 1% of being H.
So lets all put this behind us and get back to the beatitude and fun, the summer is upon us in the UK and we can shed our six layers of clothing and let the wind blow around our ankles and other things (ooer missus)
So lets hear no more of this tomfoolery and get back to talking about what makes us happy.

Hi Peeps
Sorry I haven't posted for a while but some of you know my circumstances and would like to thank everyone for their sentiments. I'm OK and things are starting to get back to normal, especially after a very stressful time and string of disasters I won't go into. The amount of things you have to do after someone has died is unbelievable. It goes to show that nice people are on this forum and why I like posting on it.
However, there seems to have been a bit fun since I last posted and a kiljoy on the forum. Carl, sorry to mention this as you wanted closure on the H thing but I would like to say something considering H/Nige is one of my oldest friends and have know him probably longer than anyone else on the forum. I don't like people making accusations against friends without the facts being listened to.
Nige/H and I have been friends for a long time and I mean a long time, half of our lives practically. I like a bit of fun and that's what Nige was doing with H as he mentioned. Without going over all of this again, I just want to say how disappointed I am in a certain person, Sylvester. Piper is no angel either but she wasn't as bad. As Carl said, Nige/H is a good friend and one of the most helpful and friendly people I know regardless of any faults he has. We all have them, especially me. You made a judgment without getting to know the real person and, also, the real history of why H was born. It hurts me to say this but you say he's shallow minded Sylvester, what about you? You certainly seem narrow-minded. Forgive me ladies for saying this but I don't mean this in a sexist way but Sylvester's response was that from most typical women. Jump the gun without hearing the full story. It is not a sexist comment but a well known fact. Even women admit it. However, we blokes are not innocent either. I think it was good of Nige to come clean about H but H will be missed. I vote for H to come back and entertain us which he seemed to do by everyone's account.
The only thing left to say is let's put all of the crap behind us and have a good old banter session as well as fun on the forum. Life is short, we should enjoy it. You don't realise what you miss until it's gone. Let's make the most of it. By the way, I'm putting a game on another forum of guess the famous quotes soon so have a go at it.

Well the cat is out of the bag as they say. Well done Nige for admitting to H. That shows a true test towards the person you are. As Philster says, I hope H returns. However Philster glad to see your getting back to normal after the death of your father and your comment against women was a little off. I see wear you are coming from, but have to disagree. Men are worse than women for jumping the gun in my experience. Thought the comment was a little sexist. However I do agree Sylvester and Piper should have gotten to know the story behind H before casting comments especially Sylvester, but if nige was just nige would the other women have talked to him.
Anway I off out later so i beter go and get ready after I try this quote game.
Speak soon all.

Just a quick reply FF. I am not a sexist person and if my comment offended you, I'll apologise but what I said is fact women do tend to jump the gun more than men. I, too, have experience of that. We blokes are not innocent either and jump the gun as well but then isn't you statement a little bit sexist.
I'm not going to get into an arguement or fallout over this but both sexes are as bad as each other, whatever it is.
