Where have I been, Kong Is King, thats where.

Yes, I know I've not been on the forum much over the last couple of days but I was posting lot's of thing's on the Kong Is King web site. I'm a big fan of the original King Kong movie and I'm looking foward to the new one.

I had some photographs for their history section and four out of five of them, they had not seen, so I did'nt waste my time. I also posted a segment of a Ray Harryhausen talk that I filmed some time back, when he talked about how Kong inspired him.

If you want to read the Ray Harryhausen info.

Carl,
How long is the full Ray H talk and do you get to see any of his models Question

Sorry for missing your question, I remember reading it but must have got side tracked.

Ray's talk is about one hour and yes you get to see lots of his models and some of his production drawings, of which are fantastic.

He was on a TV programme the other day and he mentioned his production drawings, but he did not show them, he instead showed the front cover of a book as an example, think this was because he likes to save them for his talks.. I did film the production drawings and him demonstrating some of his models, he had an original UFO from Earth Vs the Flying saucers and he showed how it's sections still move.

I might convert the whole thing, and up load it so as people can access it, there would be no problem with copyright as I filmed the footage, if I get enough requests I will do this. I also have a simlar talk by PHIL TIPPET, so again if the interest is there I will do the same so people can see that, even new people joining just let me know.

By the way, "The Art of Harryhausen" hit the shops this week, I had my suspicions why R didn't show his production drawings on the documentry, but I was taking the un commercial approach, now we know why he showed the front of the book instead of the illustrations.

It's basically a book with pictures of Ray's illustrations and stop-motion maquettes from his own collections. It covers his whole output from his early experiment with The Venusian, his fairy-tale shorts and his feature films, plus a fair amount of artwork from unrealised films such as Force of the Trojans, the Elementals, and The War of the Worlds. Overall, the pictures are large and clear, unlike An Animated Life were some of the illustrations were frustratingly clear.

I don't remember seeing any Creation concept art, although I didn't check every page! I expect I'll be unable to repress the urge to look through the book some more the next time I'm in a shop with it.
