Hardy Candy was pretty rubbish.

Neil how can you like Rob Zombies version of Halloween. Utter rubbish! I hate these remakes. The remake of the Fog was only worth watching for Tom Welling. Halloween I loved the original as it had more suspense. The new one is like a hack n slash fest. You should be shot for liking it. I can understand what you mean about trying to give it a bit more story, but it doesnt work for me.

Neil/Chloe,

Let me settle this argument for you.

They're BOTH rubbish. (as though I've actually seen either Wink )

Sad Try to avoid two films that are out on d.v.d 1st one Hard Candy - Watched it last night. Sound pretty good on the cover but unfortunatly tunred out to be the biggest pile of cow dung I had ever come across. The only interesting part of the film was when the girl castrates a bloke. Apart from that very dull and very boring.

q39 Yes! I had my gripes about this film also Neil, I don't like to call any films cos of all the hard work, but this was my grip ... Link to what I thought about it .... we didn't have a review section when I wrote this that's why it's where it is. Very Happy

Typical of Oddbodd to say that.

Have to agree with Chloe. Hard Candy sounded good and was done badly. You can tell it was done very low budget. Wouldn't waste my time. As for Halloween 2007, don't even get me started. Not a patch on the original! This is one of those films that should never have been remade. They Malcolm McDowell as Loomis is dreadful. Just like a typical hack 'n' slash movie. The swearing is typical Rob Zombie. If I ever meet him, I'll personally shoot him!

Surprised Hi everyone.m I hadn't realised my thoughts on the new Halloween would have caused such a stir.

Can I first of all say that I am a huge fan of the original Halloween with scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis. So much so that I have four different copies of the film. Two releases on D.V.D, one original on vhs and one edited for teenie boppers t.v version also on vhs. So please don't think that I have made out the new Halloween to be better than it's predessor. If this is the impression I have given please accept my apologise.

I like the new halloween for a couple of different reasons. First of all it was nice to have a different take on why michael is the way he is. When watching the orignal I always wanted to know why he killed his sister? I felt there had to be something more to it, which is what the RZ version gives you. Iit explains more about the whole family sistuation. I have friends who have watched the original and asked the question 'Why did he do that?` Alot of my friends aren't film buffs like yourselves and I. They want to have it explained to them. Tthe logic behind RZ version was there. Every litlle bit slotted into place.
The other important thing to remember is that RZ was not trying to make a remake. If he had done then Dr Loomis would have been alive and it would have been spot on to the final detail. It has a totally different ending, which I think has been well done.
I also have a great apprieciation for this film for one paricular reason, and it's something that most remakes totally disregard. RZ has kept the original sound track. Yes of course he has put in a few heavy metal tracks here and their, bu the bulk of the music track has been kept exactly the same.
I have to agree with chloe on particular point. The swearing can be a bit over powering in this film, and yes that does trade mark an RZ film. I think he could have possibly toned it down abit, but that's what makes a rob zombie film. I think it's like marmite- you either hate it or you love it. Very Happy
But as I said before I love the original version and always will. Very Happy

Neil

You don't have to apologise for liking it. Everyone has different tastes but I never hold them on that. May wind them up a bit for fun but at the end of the day we're all different and have different tastes. For crying out loud, I loved The Phantom Menace where lots of people hated it. I'm not embarrased to admit it and people that hate it may not understand it. Don't ask me to explain. I loved the original and remake of Poseidon.

I agree with you on the positive points on the new Halloween. Yes, it gave you a bit more while Michael is the way he is. I didn't like the ending because... well it'll spoil it for those that haven't seen it.

However, from memory, it does explain about Michael's behaviour in Halloween 2 and the director's cut of the first one.
