Hey Carl,
Looking very young in some of those photos Wink

Ah yes I remember those days at rooftop. Many fond memories of afternoons wasted trying to sort out that Amiga 1200 you had so it would actually work properly. Not an easy task considering it would normally get screwed up between visits by some numpty who thought they knew what they were doing and blatantly didn't.

Is a real shame that you couldn't come to a better arrangement with them. While you were running it, that place had a real buzz about it and a proper sense of community. Everyone was always interested in what other people were doing and always willing to help out.

It soon lost that once you left, it also got taken off the roof top and shoved into a tiny little room hidden in the depths of the building. However much you resented running that place you gave it its heart and soul. Also if you hadn't taken the offer we'd never have met!

When we all become rich and famous I think we should try and start up something like that again. I'd be surprised if there is anything else like it in the area if not the whole country.

Nige is right on all counts, Rooftop even though enjoyable most of the time, did add about 70 years of ageing to me.

Yes, Nige did keep the computer going, as the maniacs who would come in there would at times use two hammers to operate the keys, we got a small amount of funding for that computer and digitiser so we could do line testing, it was not to be, within one week someone had wiped the software off the hard drive and wiped the program off the backup disk, virtually impossible to do but they managed. (DR) did it & Nige will know who I mean.

So we couldn't get the correct software to ever use it again.

Just one of the scenarios from day to day, but you will all hear about that in the next instalment of Why & How I made it, and Nige will be in there somewhere.

Yes, it was still a unique place and if I ever do become rich, which is a big IF I might set up something similar, cos it still was good for a laugh.

For Jonny.

Mini Machine, I once saw her again (yes in my eyes she was a girl). I saw her when I had to replace the blue ball above her head with a soft padded one. Her job was to go around schools and promote the educational books and the kids would operate the moving eyes and claw, as they all worked by Animatronics cabling. Any hoo I was replacing the blue ball as they felt that it was so solid it could hit one of the kiddywinkys on the head, I also gave her a final paint job and I never saw her again... if anyone reading this knows her whereabouts, I would appreciate being told, as I probably would try and get her back.

For all the people who emailed me to ask about the "The Making Of Within The Shadow Of The The Tree: A Written Account, Of Why And How We Made It" and when I will be adding new info to the page.

I should be adding new things next week, there will be some new photographs from Roof Top Animation and the continuing mental saga of how I managed to make the movie. Very Happy

Spitting Image, a very funny show Very Happy

Hold a chicken in the air, stick a deck-chair up your nose
Buy a Jumbo-Jet, and then bury all your clothes
Paint your left knee green, then extract your wisdom teeth
Form a string quartet, and pretend your name is Keith. Laughing Laughing Laughing Classic Cool Cool Cool
