Carl - no chance. MJ's going to be the next Elvis, I think. He's dead. End of.
Nige - Excellent use of sarcasm. Have you ever thought about becoming a script writer?
Chloe - Love the way you pan Nige's use of smilies, which have no rules of usage, when ignoring age-old rules for apostrophe usage. God bless ya, you rebel, you. Oh yeah, and put, "sense of humour" on your shopping list for this weekend.

Oddbodd my dear, it's so nice of you to join our riveting conversation. I was wondering how long it would take for the monster from the anal pit to rear its ugly head and pat its partner on the back, etc!
How I love your sarcastic and insensitive responses! (Sarcastically and humourous) smilies have uses not rules my dear, which is a hell of a difference, especially where I come from.
As for my use of the apostrophe, I'm so amused at your comments, especially from someone can't use comas and speech marks properly. On forums like this, I'm a lazy writer, normally, and don't use them by choice, as well as some other punctuation. I did get an A in GCSE and A-Level English after all. (Notice the use of apostrophes.)
I'll go shopping for a "Sense of Humour" if you go shopping for a "Personality."
Now for the MJ thing, he will be a bit like Elvis, but he's not dead; although his body may have passed on, his spirit lives, regardless, so he's not really regarded as dead, as his legacy will live forever! I was a big Michael Jackson before he went weird, but still think his music and performances are fantastic. Long live MJ!
Maybe they're spreading the idea of a conspiracy to cover up the fact that he really is dead..

H/Nige/K or whatever youre calling yourself nowadays it was a stupid thing to say even if you were being sarcastic. Some people ignore the smilies. That is something you would come out with even if you werent being sarcastic, and that winkie at the end could mean something else. You obviously dont know how to use them properly!

I just wanted to cause a bit controversy and bring a bit of needed life back to the forum, I wasn't planning on world war 3 LOL.
Lets all just have a cup of camomile tea, I'm sure MJ would approve. in this or the next life. Hope I used the right winkies _________________ http://www.withintheshadowofthetree.com/

I'll go shoppin for a "Sense of Humour" if you go shopping for a "Personality."
Chloe,
I love you. I want to marry you and have your children. For no other reason than the above proof that top marks in English mean sweet Fanny Adams.
1. Comma has 2 Ms. I wouldn't know how to use a coma.
2. "Sarcastically and humourous" - "Sarcastically" is an adverb and therefore has no place in this construction; furthermore, "humourous" is spelt incorrectly. "Sarcastic and humorous", or indeed, "Sarcastically humorous" would be better, but both would be tautological.
3. My use of quotation marks and commas is quite correct, or at least one correct way of using them. I believe convention differs from person to person. The main thing is to be consistent, unless it is for effect (a good example of which can be found in Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale).
4. Entire sentences should not be parenthesised, nor should the full stop appear within the parentheses.
5. The present participle for the verb, "to shop" is, "shopping", not, "shoppin".
6. "Sense of Humour" and, "Personality" have no need to be capitalised here.
Nigel's use of the smiley was a perfectly acceptable indication of sarcasm. Should you infer anything else from that, I fail to see how blame can be apportioned to him.
A final question - where exactly do you come from, in terms of it being a place where the use of something differs from its rules? You'll find that this concept is universal. _________________ "It's ok to be different, it's good to be different, and we should question ourselves before we judge others." -- Johnny Depp

Hi Carl, sounds like you've had a complaint, or two. Like you i just wanted to add a little flavour to the forum as its been dead for a while. When youve got the gruesome twosome on he who are sooooo easy to wind up, its so FUN!!!! Love them both really!!!
Perfect use of smilies!
I prefer liquorish or cherry tea. Think we should leave this topic for now.

Oh Oddbodd, yes I do, I do, I do! You gorgeous sexy beast of a man. How I've dreamed of this moment. I want to have your babies. Someone who is so knowledgeable in English just turns me on. oooowww! Hang on, I cant, Im spoken for Im afraid! But I may consider leaving him just for you!
Im not going to get into a debate with you about your English, my dear because Id wipe the floor with you any day of the week and youre so arrogant about it. I think you take the English thing a bit too serious, and need to get a hobby, or even a life. Like I said, Im a lazy writer on forums, hence the coma/comma and humourous/humorous spelling, and the fact I had a bit to drink didnt help. When it comes to my job, I'm perfect.
I come from South Yorkshire my dear, and nothing is totally universal, even smilies.

Ah, Yorkshire. Lovely part of the world. Can't say I know South Yorkshire too well, but the Dales are lovely. _________________ "It's ok to be different, it's good to be different, and we should question ourselves before we judge others." -- Johnny Depp

Crikey what the f***’s gone on here, World War 3 is an understatement! (LOL)
Sorry to sound like a git but can I remind people to stick to the topic of the threat.
Oddbodd/Chloe – girls, girls, girls, this threat is about Michael Jackson NOT f****** English standards. It doesn’t surprise me who started that though. However, if you would like to see my comments on the issues raised, please go to the threat I’ve set up where you can go and bitch or banter about anything you like and not worry about deviating from a topic.
