Just read this and was a tad surprised considering Pixar and Disney had just recently parted ways.

This is probably the best thing that has happened to Disney in the last 15 years.

Disney's Space Shuttle Attitude.

It's happened before and it will no doubt happen again.

Disney's animation talent were once untouchable and no one could compete. When all the animators walked out Disney tried to continue by making movies such as “The Fox and Hound” and “The Black Cauldron” of which took 10 years to make. It was only when a new person, Michael Eisner took the Disney reins and once again helped them regain their throne, with such movies as Beauty and The Beast, Aladdin, Lion King, Tarzan and a whole host of classically animated movies. Unfortunately for Disney he died in a helicopter crash... http://www.answers.com/topic/michael-eisner and after Michael Eisner death Disney couldn't seem to get it back together.

It’s still very recently that Disney were beavering away in the classical mode, it's only due to their big flop “Treasure Planet” did they get scarred and stop. I use the Shuttle as a comparison, as Disney are the same as NASA, once it goes drastically wrong they hold fire and hope they've got it right for the next launch. If the next movie is successful they will have regained the magic confidence feather and no doubt continue with all their classical sure thing movies, of which we all have loved. If the new movie falls at the first hurdle I wouldn't like to say what their future would be, will they invest as much money as they did in "Treasure Planet" or keep it safe and economical, or still want to lavish detail and exuberance on an ever hungry audience, who knows we will just have to see.

Treasure Planet Flop info:

Very pleased Disney say they are coming back but they've only bean a way for a blink of an eye.

Bit of trivia: Treasure Planet Goofs: Continuity: During the supernova there is a strong gust of wind which smashes out all the windows in Captain Amelia's room. Later, when Doppler, Jim and Amelia are in the room, all the windows are unbroken.

I liked "Treasure Planet" it just wasn't successful cos it didn't make money, if it had of made money Disney wouldn't have paused before moving on to their next projects.
