In my opinion she was the only good thing in that movie. Wasn't impressed with it in general, but was never a huge fan of it in the first place. The whole premis is a bit daft. Like Oddbod said, if they priests knew about the kid why not get rid of him when he was a baby, much easier.

Heard it was a scene for scene remake, like what they did with Pyscho. Still want to see it, liked the original and looking forward to seeing the photographer bloke get beheaded.

If it wasn't for brother not seeing X-men, I would have went with Nige and co. Oh well will make a point of seeing it this week.

They can't kill him when he's a baby because he's protected by his guardians. Plus, you wouldn't have a film then. Like lots of films, if they did things when they should have, you wouldn't have a movie.

Oddbodd, sorry but I thought it was Julia Styles in Swimfan. It's Erika Kristenianson (think I've spelt the surname wrong) in it. Thought it was Julia as they don't half look alike. Kinda like Natalie and Kiera.

Agreed - but it wouldn't have been too difficult to make it more believable. Mia Farrow's character, the Nanny, is obviously somehow possessed by Satan, so why couldn't some other random bunch of people, possessed by Satan, have arranged a swap of the kids, rather than the story requiring priests to do it?

What guardians! The first thing you saw of anything resemble a guardian was when the first dog appears any by that time he's well beyond being a baby.

Like a lot of films its lazy writers who instead of coming up with a clever way to get round the plot hole or difficult situation they just throw logic out the window and assume the audience is dumb enough to accept it.

Well finally got to see it. It is scary how much like the original it is but then didn't expect anything else, especially the dialogue. However, there are quite a few differences, other than the cast of course. The main ones to note are:

The beginning sequence, where the comet is seen and the priests are meeting to discuss it. This wasn't in the original. Neither was the scene with the ambassador being killed in the car. Robert Thorne was just offered the post in the original. Also, the bit with the park was different when Damien hide from Julia Styles' character; in the original, it was beside a river and both parents were there. Can't even remember whether those scenes were in the book.

Julia Styles' character was killed differently. In the original, Kathrine Thorne was pushed out of the window by the nanny. The way the photographer loses his head is different. It's a sheet of glass in the original from a truck. The priest's death was a bit more gruesome too. I could go on with lots of other scenes but won't.

Other than those, there wasn't much difference only just to modernise it.

All in all, I thought it was a good remake but still like the original better to some degree.

The copout with the priests is explained in the book. Won't go into though but it's a religious thing.

Already told Oddbodd. In case anyone else wants to know, it's all to do with some of the priests being worshipers of Satan and not allowed to kill. Also, something to do with profits only certain people are allowed to kill him. That's the rough version. It's a long time since I read the book.

To prevent any confusion, he means "prophets".
