It's taken me quite a while to get through this book, due it it being signed I wouldn't let it leave the house, and it's not often I read in the house.

It has to be said that Christopher Lee has led a remarkable life, and it would even be so if he had not had the acting success that he's had.  Born high on the social ladder, he could count among his Ancestors a Pope and Charlemagne.  Add to this being a competent opera singer and a golfer (once captaining England at amateur level), a wartime officer in the RAF and a considerable polyglot.  His film career has been similarly remarkable, having made over 250 feature films in addition to television work and audio books.

His writing style is dry but very humorous and intellectual.  Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he makes no apology for this and thus make no attempt to speak in anything other than his aristocratic twang.

The book covers his film career but probably doesn't mention everything - there's simply too much.  Hammer is mentioned, but it is widely known that he speaks of Hammer films little, as he has little regard for them.  But on films he does enjoy, such as The Wicker Man, he does reminisce greatly.

A fine book by a fine actor.
