Let's face it, when you hear what the concept of this film is, then you'd be naïve to expect that you're going to see the next Oscar-winner. You have to go to see this film fully expecting to see a movie pretty much devoid of artistic justification, otherwise, you're gonna be quite disappointed.
It's as high-concept as they come - our heroine, Dawn (Jess Weixler) is having enough trouble coping with adolescence and hormones, without the problem of her genitalia having its own set of teeth. And not the usual humanoid canines, molars and incisors, either - these are big shark-like gnashers. Dawn soon realises that unwanted intereference from testosterone-fuelled boys gets these teeth to spring into action - with gruesome results.
That's the film in a nutshell. The story isn't great, nor is the acting, and the overall feel is that the film isn't sure whether it wants to be art-house or hollywood. It does benefit from its comic moments - one hopes the film-makers were intentional in their humour - but this merely means that it is more likely to become known as a film to mock at a DVD night with a bunch of mates, a few beers and a pizza.
A warning, however, to those who aren't keen on gore, though (especially if you're a bloke and prize what's between your legs) - you might find this a little graphic, although the comedy of the situations (as well as the fact that the characters deserve to be, erm, cut off in their prime), dulls this to an appreciable extent.
