Story

The year is 2018 and humanity is in danger of becoming extinct through Skynet.  John Connor leads a team to find the young Kyle Reese; the man to be come the one he must send back in time, not only to provide his mother Sarah Connor with the information of the war, but also to become his father.  Along the way, Reese and eventually Connor stumble across Marcus, a man who's last memory was being executed on death row in 2003.  Will this man be a key fact to the survival of the human race or its destruction.

Verdict

Before seeing this, I had my reservations about seeing this.  After the last one was a bit of a disappointment, wasn't expecting much.  However, it provided there is still life in the franchise.  Christian Bale plays an excellent John Connor.  Fans of the terminator franchise should not be disappointed.  It is the next phase in the saga.  There's plenty of action in this enjoyable romp.  A lot of people are saying how can you make a terminator film without Arnie?  Well this says it all.  Then again, who say's Arnie isn't in it?  You'll have to see the movie to see what I mean.  Good to see a cameo from Michael Ironside as the resistance leader which he should be used to from his V days.

All in all, I enjoyed this movie.  It isn't the best of the franchise but it certainly isn't the worst.  Out of 5 I give it a 3.5.

I also enjoyed this movie better than I thought, a good story although Im sure true die hards will say where did this Marcus come from and its not canon etc.. But hey a very good action movie, although perhaps not the future we & John expected. The transformer thingy? well it was not in your face for the full movie but I did find the water robots reminded me of The Matrix, dunno? The Terminators themselves were excellent.

As far as the humans go, Kylie Reese well I think he looked far too young and wimpish, despite it being early in the war. Bale as John Conner was played well, as was Michael Ironsides character, but the true star was Sam Worthington as Marcus Wright. The ladies were in my opinion not very strong character wise but at least Bloodgood looked nice.

Ohh I loved that very quick snippet of the Terminator tune played on guitar, shame it did not last longer..

I will buy the DVD for sure, and hope they make the next two movies..
