If this is the place to bitch, well here goes!

It used to be fun on this forum, it used to be a place to come and have a laugh and yes a little harmful banter is ok, but remember you use more muscles to frown then you do to smile  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy  Exclamation

OMG! H is writing a panto! Cant imagine that. Is it one of those dirty pantos? I can only imagine that coming from him probably with whips, and things. Where did Khaylan come into it?

He has indeed written one, in conjunction with another member of the theatre group.  And a fine effort it is, too.  It's not dirty and there are no whips.

I hope it is ok.  Surely it cant be as bad as that one Lisa, and I saw the other year by the Washington Theatre Group.

LOL!  He's probably been very hard at work writing his so-called panto!

That would be the panto on which you so slaveringly and sycophantically congratulated his co-author a few months back, then?  Wonderful hypocrisy, there, dear.
It should also be pointed out that they certainly have worked hard on it - to the point where they could supply a full script at the pitch.  I seem to recall that when you submitted yours, you were not able to (nor indeed had the decency to turn up to at least one meeting to represent it).

Ooooowwwwwww!  Handbags at dawn men!  Someone is taking something personally when it’s nothing to do with him.  LMFAOA!  You’re a hoot Oddbodd (LOL!)

I’m a hypocrite!  Since when did I become hugely over weight, grey, develop big eyes and a big nose (LMAO.)  On a more serious note (but still being very cheery for this entire message), I have to say that’s a bit cheeky coming from the prince of hypocrites!  Like always, you jump the gun and spout off without knowing the facts properly and talk out of you’re a***.  Do you know what I said to H/Nige’s writing partner about the panto?  Probably not!  I congratulated her and wished her luck.  Did I say anything like it was an excellent or good script, especially as I don’t think I had read it by then, NO!  However, I did offer to give some constructive criticism, if she wanted it.  Does that make me a hypocrite?  NO, hence, my “so-called panto” comment.  Out of sincerity, I do wish Nige all of the luck in the world because he’s going to need it and I don’t mean that to be nasty.  Knowing Nige the way I do, it’s going to be hard for him to do and I hope he doesn’t just put in gags that’s been used to death.

Let’s face it, from what I’ve heard, Nige’s script didn’t have any competition in the first place so it was highly unlikely that it was going to be rejected.  To be honest, I don’t like being too critical about people’s work in case it hurts them, especially when they put a lot of time and effort into.  However, as for the panto Nige is involved in writing, the draft I read was bloody awful.  The format wasn’t even right for starters and I don’t mean that it wasn’t in the US style.  It wasn’t even the correct UK acceptable (old style) version for theatre.  It wasn’t funny at all and didn’t seem to have a panto feel about it, hence, the comment.  It wasn’t a thing to get at Nige because of our differences, etc. it was out of concern for the group as Nige is not a panto writer.  The only thing that will save the panto is Sarah and the group contributing to it.  Nige’s area of writing is fantasy stuff and he is very good at it, particularly descriptions.  I’ll give credit where it’s due.  If Nige wants to write stuff, and write stuff because he wants to and not because his friends are doing it, he should stick to what he knows best.  There’s nothing wrong with having a go at writing a different genre and I’ll give Nige credit for having a go but don’t try something you’re weak at.  It can be hard writing a script full stop, never mind writing a panto.  I had a few niggles when I completed my panto about what to put into it, etc.  I’d like to see you have a go Oddbodd!  Only then will you have the right to criticise.  There’s a challenge for next year!

About my script submission last year, are you trying to say that I don’t commit to a project and only do things half heartedly?  If that is the case, you don’t know me at all.  Why would I go to all of the trouble to submit a 90 page script I’ve poured my heart and soul into if, according to my sources, it wasn’t going to be picked regardless.  That is one of the reasons why I only submitted part of the script in the first place.  However, the other reasons I do not care to discuss on a public forum.  Also, I was working on another project more important (my book) but if I was lucky enough to have my panto picked, I can assure you I would have been fully committed to it!

As for presenting it, I would have had the decency to present it but one week I was ill and the other I went to see Kylie.  By that time, the group had to have a decision made regardless so don't try and and hold that against me.  Like I said, why should I have gone to all of the trouble to present it if it wasn’t going to be picked.  However, anyone that knows about pitching ideas, etc. will tell you that you don’t do a full script anyway.  You’re only supposed to pitch the idea with a treatment first in both theatre and film.  One of the reasons being that, when someone puts a lot of effort into a full script, if it is rejected, it can be very heartbreaking.

As for my scripts in general, don’t even dare try to put them down or I’ll put you down.  I’ve been doing scripts for years, mentored by experts in the business and currently helping MA students with their scripts.  Also, a few years ago, I was plugged by the man on an American radio show.  Can you match that Oddbodd, NO, so f*** off ugly! Hee, hee, hee!

I couldnt agree more Liz! I remember when I first joined the forum like C and D; we thought it was going to be a forum that welcomed everyone where we can chat about fantasy TV and films, have a bit fun, and so on. None of us expected it was going to be used for things like trying to get into women's knickers, have a go at you because your English spelling/grammar is bad, tell you youre not welcome because youre different, and go somewhere else, etc, etc...  That's why Diane, and I stopped posting on here. Can we all not just play nicer, but respect each other's opinions, etc.  Very Happy

RDE

I very much doubt the people who supply the bags would travel 150 miles just to get a bag of clothes.  From what I know, the charities only collect them around the doors they put the bags in.

Good idea Oddbodd.  Kind of like the Survey trick and Data Protection.

Thanks for the offer Robert DeNiro's Eyes Kiss of love, but like Phil says, I very much doubt they would travel to South Yorkshire if they dont already give bags out.  Funny enough through, we did get one the other day so I may just give them some clothes.  Again, thanks for the offer.

Whats the survey/DP thing Phil?
